Van Helsing obviously wants to be The Walking Dead with vampires, but it lacks that show's production values, cast and over-the-top imagination.

It, too, gets off to a slow start, but Van Helsing picks up in the second episode. It is also super violent and super gory. If you like that sort of thing, you might want to give this a chance.

The performances of Overton and Scarfe are absolutely a good reason to tune in to Van Helsing. The two of them make each of their characters relatable, despite some superpowers and the insane situations they find themselves in.
