But that's what This Is Us does really well. It forces us to sit with those seemingly insignificant moments that become embedded into who we are. Scenes like this make Kate's character real. So real that even when I wanted to turn away, I couldn't.

As the show continues to find its footing and form an identity, I'm enjoying the marriage of the two timelines a lot more.
