Good job, Jay Faerber & Jess Kardo, aka the writers of this episode. "In Plain Sight" represented Supergirl Season 5's best episode yet, seamlessly juggling the slow burn Leviathan arc and J'onn's family drama with the aid of some stellar character work.

All in all, there's a sense that no one's heart was entirely in this one, which is a disappointing but perhaps ultimately fitting way to send off James Olsen.

Losing James Olsen is a hard pill to swallow as he is one of the last remaining OG characters from the first season of Supergirl, but it would have been a bit easier to process had it not seemed so out of left field.

This show rarely served James well, which was absolutely not the fault of Mehcad Brooks. Despite how frustratingly aimless his character arcs were over the years, this closing storyline feels good.
