Saturday Night Live - Season 45 Episode 17: SNL At Home: Brad Pitt, Miley Cyrus
Season 45 is complemented by more powerful surprises that begin with short theatrical performances, parodies and distinctive artistic tracks. It was so great to see this crew come together to create a show from quarantine, and bringing in Tom Hanks as host certainly helped make it feel that much more delightful. I hope this is something that keeps happening.

Saturday Night Live gamely staged a socially distant Saturday Night Live at Home... And it wasn't half bad!

The big question is did it work? Not always, but SNL rarely produces a show with nothing but outstanding sketches.
April 14, 2020
While not without its awkward moments, the show on a whole was an impressive example of making the most out of extraordinary times.
April 13, 2020
Quibbles aside, it was a sustaining night-all these familiar faces and talents, showing up with such earnestness and energy.
April 14, 2020
Hanks was the natural host for this one, not just as an SNL lifer but as the first star publicly diagnosed with COVID-19, calling himself "the celebrity canary in the coal mine for coronavirus."

Aidy is a delight. That is all.

With that length and the lack of live audience, this sketch exposed something "SNL" should avoid doing if they do "SNL at Home" again - and they should - which is the type of sketches where a cast member or cast members "take over."
April 14, 2020
There wasn't anything revelatory, or even especially memorable about it, except that it existed... But we could all use some reliable institutions right now, and having SNL back was surprisingly affecting.
April 14, 2020
While no one will look back on tonight as a great episode, it was a valiant effort and a welcome distraction from the larger troubles of the world.
April 14, 2020
A valiant effort by the cast, writers, and editors/production people! Thought the limitations helped, mostly.
April 14, 2020
It was a weaker-than-average episode of a show whose average episodes aren't what they used to be. Yet, as I watched what the cast and writers managed to put together... an unexpected sense of gratitude blindsided me.
