This semi-autobiographical dark comedy starring Tig Notaro follows her as she returns to her hometown after the sudden death of her mother. Still reeling from her own declining health problems, Tig struggles to find her footing with the loss of the one person in her life who understood her. All while dealing with her clingy girlfriend and her dysfunctional family.

It takes on quite a bit this time around, and it's to be commended for not just deepening its characters but also for also resolutely taking on the state of the nation -- at least as it exists in one small Southern town.

The grace of One Mississippi is that it takes on difficult topics of sexual harassment, racism and other divides in the country, including the presidential election, in a wry sideways manner that makes its point without being confrontational.
