None of it adds up to smashing new revelations or grand statements, but that's probably why Men works as well as it does.

I'm sure it's tempting to look at the cast of Men of a Certain Age and say Romano has no business acting in a drama opposite Andre Braugher and Scott Bakula. But Romano will sneak up on you, and the show might, too.

Men of a Certain Age shows terrific promise on a network whose two other male-dominated series -- Leverage and Dark Blue -- are mostly about springing into action and random wisecracking.
