In this series, little parents Dave and Rebecca face extraordinarily challenges. Young parents are trying to plan to take care of Dave's parents who mismanaged their money and need help paying off a large debt. Young parents seem to be trying to do supernatural tasks to pay off debts and help in the current financial crisis.

The precise midpoint between juicily nasty and wholesome is a tricky balance to strike, and Indebted doesn't get there, toggling back and forth between its perspectives on the characters depending on the scene.

After three episodes, there's plenty of room for improvement and plenty of time to improve, but it'll take a big renovation to whip "Indebted" into shape, and it may not be worth the investment.

My only question after watching the pilot was, are they joking? And the answer was, no, not even once.

The lines, setups and delivery almost seem to fly out of the last century - light from a distant galaxy, arriving just now. None of this makes "Indebted" bad so much as obvious.

"Indebted" feels more like the typical tossed-off network sitcom, with roars of laughter greeting each machine gun spray of bad jokes.
