In the first season, Archie Bunker, the courageous captain, who will spend his time, is the captain of this outstanding team. Although Margaret was reluctant to celebrate her 65th birthday, the men took her to the club to celebrate a fun time for the team that seemed to miss the chance of fun and pleasure.

I'm hoping the mediocre writing can eventually rise to meet the level of the cast, but for now, there are worse ways to spend your Friday nights than with this cozy throwback.

The writing on The Cool Kids is hit-or-miss, and I would ratchet down the hyperactive laugh track... But the cast is appealing enough to overcome these quibbles.

Given its pedigree, from Charlie Day, writer of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," let's not yet dismiss it based on a stilted pilot.

A Cool Kids that actually looked at what it feels like to be living in a retirement community, beyond the easy gags, would have been something new. But corny jokes about race and sexuality are barely enough to shock anymore; we've heard them all before.

It's cool having them all back on TV, especially Lawrence, who seems more vibrant than in all those years when she donned Mama's wig.
