Through a chain of comedy events, this series follows Carol Kenney who worked as a teacher. She left her job after raising her two children trying to achieve her dream of being a doctor. In each episode, she face many comedy events and troubles at her new work.

Comes down a little too hard on the ageism, plus illness is a difficult backdrop for comedy. Still the likability of Patricia Heaton shines through and should make this another long running sitcom for her.

The joke-telling isn't particularly sharp - a lot of punchlines revolve around slapstick mischief and the rookies' fear of killing their patients - but Heaton's veteran comic timing and Jalees' sardonic delivery keep the energy afloat
