Season 2 presents a new series of powerful events, where things change after the first day of school. Madeleine is still very concerned about Bonnie's behavior. Over time, things are getting worse as Madeleine is shocked when Abigail says she does not want to go to college. Meanwhile, Jane discovers that there is something strange about her new boyfriend, Currie, telling her that she is well known in the city as one of 'Monterey Five'.

Sporting vaguely rodential teeth, Streep is effortlessly dominating as Mary Louise, the dead man's grieving, slyly aggressive mother, who doubts the official version of her son's death and refuses to believe he was a sexual thug.
