The series begins its events, where Tawny joins ShapeCult gym tries to find the acceptance he so desperately needs. But finally, his psychotic obsession with approval puts him at odds with his gym trainer in an exciting way.

In an era where satire can feel dull, Weird City feels like a breath of air. It's a little on the nose. But it's also fully aware that it's on the nose between the Blade Runner references and the meta-textual references.

It's a perfect device for injecting class conflict into what's basically a satirical science fiction fantasy. Of course, like all anthologies, some episodes are better than others.
