The series revolve around Maria Abascal, a troubled woman that shares her body with the demonic entity Abigail who feeds on the evil Maria exorcises from others. Maria and Abigail share a soul and a destiny, but as Maria tries to overtake him she will realize how far he will go to remain a part of her.

South of the Hell should give horror junkies enough of a tickle to stave off withdrawal. But it lacks substance. It's an intermezzo, not a full course.

It isn't scary. It looks comically cheap at times. The performances range from inconsistent to fairly awful. And unless the Emmys open up a category for Outstanding Use of Multi-Colored Contact Lenses, it's unlikely to get any real respect.

The only truly scary thing about South of Hell is the possibility that someone might waste seven hours watching it Friday night into Saturday morning.
