I can salute it for turning the porny aesthetic of Starz as a whole into its reason for being, rather than a distracting side element.
March 08, 2019
Apocalypse has a unbridled porno theatricality that infuses the show with a looseness that is rarely seen in the self-serious limited series world.

The result is a bright and boisterous B-movie spin on a Sex and the City-tinged comedy of sexual errors that infuses the familiar half-hour format with Araki's signature cocktail of paranoid hedonism. Which is to say, it's extra af.

The nonstop sexual content often comes across as desperate, or as a way to fill time while the overarching plot is busy going nowhere.
