I've been watching Empire since it premiered, and the writing and editing have always moved the story forward in a credible manner, but there was something amiss in last night's episode, specifically the last five minutes.

It's typical bulletproof Lucious villainy, but in fairness, Lucious and Jamal's peaceful competition for the ASA Awards was never going to last, and the song we got out of the squabble is the show's best in some time.

'A Rose by Any Other Name' was another solid episode of this sophomore drama. The stage is set for a thrilling Empire Season 2 Episode 13, and the drama doesn't appear to be slowing down.
