It's the sort of colorblind casting and writing of female characters as leaders that more shows should follow. Sadly, that revolution is wasted here on a show that is as staid and formulaic as anything else on the tube.

This is a disaster movie writ large for TV and the simple fact is, it works despite some none-too-subtle turns. You can't help being enthralled by a story you wouldn't want to be a part of.

So far Containment hasn't overplayed its cards and remains grounded in telling a coherent and a fairly compelling story.

Containment has a reasonably suspenseful pilot as directed by David Nutter. But as the series proceeds, it just becomes more repetitive and tedious.

Despite its flaws-and the buckets of fluids used-I found 'Containment' to be the TV equivalent of a car wreck. It's frightening, but you can't look away.
