BOP is an eminently watchable crime-of-the-week diversion, made more so by Ashley Scott's kung-fu spunk as Huntress and Dina Meyer's maturity as the handicapped ex-Batgirl.

The photography, sets and costumes are first-rate, but the acting settles into a glib, amateurish rut. The performers don't sell the illusion; they keep calling attention to it.

Birds mixes the foxy-cuties-in-action of Charlie's Angels and the dark mutant fantasy of X-Men. It's fun, fast, no-cal.
