The story begins in a life of a man who moves from the father of two children happily married to a man on a mission after the tragic death of his son and the disappearance of his daughter. Determined to bring his daughter home safely, and to protect the small family he left, Clay leaves his quiet farm and goes to Wichita and then to Dodge City all to save his daughter.
