We should've had a new Pee-wee movie years ago; this one's a tad uneven, but all in all, it'll do.March 25, 2016
The adventure which ensues has as much nuttiness as you would expect, even if it lacks the innovative governing vision that Burton brought to the original.March 31, 2016
Has its share of absurd laughs, but it never reaches the delirious heights of whimsy that it so clearly aims for.May 31, 2016
By its nature, this latest Pee-wee film retreads some of the same material, though in the most respectful way. That said, it does the best possible job rekindling the spirit that made Pee-wee's Big Adventure a timeless delight.April 02, 2016
Manages to get the most important thing right: Pee-Wee's childishly anarchic delight in all things silly and stupidMarch 18, 2016
After all these years - his and ours - Pee-wee Herman is still a Peter Pan who can lead us back to innocence with a corny joke or a childish jape.April 11, 2016
I laughed long and hard at Pee-wee's corny puns and throwback sensibilities, a satirical reflection of times when innuendo wasn't always intentional, but was all the funnier for it.March 21, 2016
It's like one of the so-so "Muppets" movies, where you're happy to see the characters back on screen again, yet slightly impatient that they've forgotten to bring enough jokes.March 18, 2016
Pee-wee doesn't come saddled with backstory, like Batman. He's more like Mickey Mouse, an icon who can become anything he wants.March 18, 2016
Aside from being as funny as it is elementary, it will remind you of how this masterpiece character transcends age, and instill hope that he'll have more adventures before he can no longer leave his playhouse.March 18, 2016
Pee-wee is still a startling and original and strangely endearing creation. He just deserved a funnier, more intriguing holiday.March 19, 2016
A disappointing rehash of Pee-wee's 1985 film debut. Netflix subscribers may find it skim-worthy.
