In a dramatic atmosphere, this movie presents a special kind of friendship that occur between a young man called Miles and a robotic dog A.X.L., who has been developed by the army to help the soldiers in wars. The army needs to get their dog, but Miles and A.X.L. try to do their best to save their friendship.

Meanwhile, the scientists who lost A-X-L spend half the movie watching these events unfold on a computer screen, doing not a danged thing because they want to see how it all pans out. They are, it must be said, lousy scientists.

It's a boy and his dog story with elements of "Pretty in Pink," "Rad" and "The Wraith," and it's those references that kinda make this movie work.
