Antwone Fisher
The realism of Anton Fischer seems more exciting, as a young Antoine is temperamental and may have a painful past. He began his career in the US Navy, but after a long time for Anton from the US Navy, he decides to go see a psychiatrist after engaging in a fight with a fellow sailor for no reason. The treatment may reveal many things, as the doctor reveals the painful past and perhaps there is new hope.

Rings false, belittling instead of honoring its sensitive subject with its twinkly score, kid-glove nobility and cloying payoffs. [Blu-ray]

It is to Washington's credit that he keeps it just real enough to move our hearts and our heads.

For sure, Antwone Fisher is corny. But it's corny in a way that a Hollywood movie about a boy who just wants to go home ought to be corny.

Devastating story of abuse based on real life.

A fine film that proves the past is never too bleak -- or the future too hopeless -- to discover a productive new life, and a home and family to share it.

There's a simplicity and heart to Antwone Fisher ... that's extremely appealing.

Watchful, flinty, unexpectedly vulnerable -- and so cathartic it could wring tears from a stone.
