Mary was born and raised in the city of Havana, Cuba. At the age of 12, Mary and her family moved to the United States. It was a very big adjustment for her, and she didn't know any English.Growing up, as a younger girl, she was really inspired and moved by American music. Mary remembers watching Disney's "Snow White" and singing the songs in English. She started enjoying other types of music, from artists like Madonna, Michael Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Journey, and more. She started learning the English language thankfully by listening to American music.Mary auditioned for The Voice, and was able to make it onto the show. Shakira, Blake, and Usher all turned their chairs for her, and was beside herself, as she knew in her heart that she was destined to be on Team Shakira. Mary is very grateful for her experience on The Voice, and for the recognition it has given her. Mary continues to perform throughout the country, is on the red carpet at events, and has been performing on television and is ready to release her first single in late October 2013. She has been writing music for her debut album and is going into television and film. Hide
